Writing During the Holidays

The most wonderful time of the year is also the busiest time of the year. We’re working hard, trying to maintain our regular habits, baking and cooking, hosting, trying to squeeze in time with friends and family. How could we possibly find time for writing?

I am writing this at the bookshop between customers. At home, I’ve been writing about three sentences a night while I sit on my couch and do other things–watch mind-numbing television, try to finish Christmas knitting. I always want writing to feel like this glorious ritual in which I get a lot of it done while surrounded by crystals and candles and the perfect song. But, right now, I am just getting it done. And even when I only write two sentences, I feel so good having written anything at all.

I’d love for this to be a longer blog post, but I simply don’t have time.
